What this page covers
The rules that apply to your browser
obscyra.digital is a policy and documentation site. We use a small set of cookies to keep pages and forms working, and a limited analytics set so we can see which documents readers actually open. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell data collected through them.
This page describes the categories we use, who else may set a cookie while you read, how long each type stays on your device, and how to remove or block them. Where your question is about how we handle personal data more broadly, the Privacy Policy covers that ground.
- Essential cookies
- Analytical cookies
- Browser controls
- Third-party providers
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They allow a site to remember information between page requests, such as a preference or a session state. Similar technologies, including local storage, serve comparable functions.
A cookie is not a program and cannot run on your device. It holds a short label and a value that the site reads back the next time your browser asks for a page. Some cookies last only while your browser window is open; others are given an expiry date and remain until that date passes or you delete them.
Storage
Held by your browser, sent back to the site with each request to that domain.
Session
Mostly expire when you close the tab or window, so nothing carries over to a later visit.
Persistent
Carry a set lifetime and stay on your device until they expire or you remove them.
How we use cookies
We use cookies to operate the site and to understand basic usage. Nothing on this site depends on a cookie to show you a document, but a few functions depend on one to remember what you were doing.
Site operation
Keeps a page request tied to the same browsing session so navigation and form submission behave as expected, including error messages that would otherwise disappear on reload.
Contact form
Lets the Contact page accept a message without losing what you typed if a field fails validation. Blocking this cookie may stop the form from submitting at all.
Usage measurement
Where analytics are enabled, a measurement cookie records which pages are visited and how readers move through the documentation library, so we can see which documents are read most.
Preferences
Remembers small display choices so a setting you pick on one page does not reset as you move to the next document.
Our position on advertising
We do not use cookies to advertise to you.
obscyra.digital does not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking on this site. Where a third-party analytics provider is used, its cookies measure visits inside this site only and are governed by that provider's own privacy policy. Questions about that arrangement can be sent through the Contact page.
Categories of cookies
Two categories are in use on this site. Both are described below with what they do and what happens if you refuse them.
- Set by
- obscyra.digital, and analytics providers where enabled
- Applies to
- All visitors to obscyra.digital
- Control
- Browser settings, described under managing cookies
Essential
Required for the site to function, including form submission and session handling. These keep a page request tied to your visit, hold a partially completed contact message while it is being validated, and stop repeated security checks from breaking navigation. They cannot be switched off through the site itself; if you block them in your browser, pages may still load while form submission and session handling stop working.
Analytical
Used to measure page visits and identify which documents are read most. Records are read in aggregate, so we can tell that a policy page was opened and how far a reader scrolled without identifying who that reader was. Refusing these cookies means a visit is not counted; it does not restrict access to any document.
Analytics are reviewed periodically against the questions we actually need answered. When a measurement no longer informs a documentation decision, it is removed rather than left running.
Third-party cookies
Where analytics services are used, those providers may set their own cookies. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this page. Those cookies are set when measurement is enabled on a page you visit, and they stay within the scope of that measurement.
We do not use third-party cookies for advertising on this site. No advertising network, data broker, or social platform pixel is loaded anywhere on obscyra.digital, and no cookie set here is used to follow you to another website.
If a third-party provider changes what it collects, the change is reflected in this document at the next review, and the version number and review date are updated so you can see that something moved.
What we do not do
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No selling of data collected through cookies
- No cross-site behavioural profiling
- No cookies required to read a document
Managing cookies
- Where
- Your browser's privacy or site-data settings
- Options
- View, delete, or block cookies by site
- Effect
- Blocking essential cookies may break the contact form
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Every mainstream browser lets you list the cookies stored for a site, remove them individually or all at once, and block new ones from being set. The controls usually sit under a privacy, security, or site-data heading.
If you block cookies
Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site, including the contact form, from working correctly. A blocked submission usually fails quietly, so it is worth retrying with cookies allowed if a message does not appear to send. Document pages themselves remain readable with all cookies blocked.
Private browsing
A private or incognito window discards most cookies when you close it, which is a quick way to read the documentation without leaving a trace on a shared computer. Form submission still works in a private window while it stays open.
Retention
How long a cookie stays on your device depends on the type. The figures below describe the two categories used on this site.
Essential cookies
Typically expire when your session ends or within a short defined period. A session cookie is cleared as soon as you close the browser; a small number carry a brief fixed lifetime so that a form you stepped away from is not lost before you finish it.
Analytical cookies
Analytical cookie data is retained for a limited period, after which older visit records are dropped from the reporting set. Aggregate totals used to understand which documents are read most can remain longer than the individual cookie lifetime.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new version number and review date. Earlier versions remain available through the change log.
Versioning and Change LogVersion
Updated on the policy page itself, alongside the review date
Archive
Earlier versions stay readable in the change log

Questions readers send us
Do I need cookies to read a policy document?
No. Every document in the library opens with all cookies blocked. Cookies affect form submission and visit measurement, not access to the text of a policy.
Does this policy cover the contact form?
It covers the cookies the form depends on. How we store and handle the message you send is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is the right document for questions about your personal data.
Will you tell me if a new cookie is added?
Yes, on this page. Any new category or provider is described here with a new version number and review date, and the earlier wording stays available in the change log so you can compare the two.
Where do I send a question about this document?
Send it through the Contact page, name this document, and say which section your question concerns. Naming the section helps us route the message to the person who maintains that part of the policy.
